Chizuru Oura
Chizuru is a graduate of Kansai University with a major in German, and also studied at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Chizuru has several years experience working at a patent law firm in Munich and Osaka.
She began working at a patent law firm in Germany in 2005, transitioned to in-house German translation at a patent law firm in Osaka in 2007, and joined Horn & Uchida in 2012.

Friedemann Horn
Friedemann has a degree in electrical engineering, his master thesis being on computer models for semiconductor laser diodes.
A year after coming to Japan, he joined one of the leading patent law firms in Osaka, where his responsibilities included the translation and editing of patent specifications.
He is a registered European and German patent attorney and has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office.
Furthermore, he is one of the few patent translators offering qualified translations from Japanese into German (e.g. for the entry of PCT national phases in Germany).
Friedemann is a member of LES Japan.

He worked in a Japanese patent firm for several years before joining Horn & Uchida Patent Translations in 2007, and has translated patents full-time since 2005.
